Who Am I?
My Philosophy:
Art reaches into every aspect of our lives, from facilitating dialogue, to conveying emotion, to telling a story. Because of this, my approach to learning is a holistic one, encompassing research, critical-thinking, communication, self-management, and social competencies. Much like how finding a balance between the Elements of Art and Principles of Design makes for a strong art piece, accounting for a variety of learning styles makes for a stronger education.

I AM:
As the website's title implies, I am Mr. (Ty) Fairchild! I am a 4th year public education art teacher, and 10th year art teacher including teaching private art lessons. I've been doodling, drawing and creating since I was little, but was inspired by my high school art teacher, Ms. Mulvey, to be an art teacher myself. When I'm not art-making, you can find me with my 4 cats, bearded dragon, 4 fish, and 10 shrimp at home, drinking coffee and playing video games.
What I Enjoy About Teaching:
My favorite thing about being an art teacher is helping students find their voice and share their stories. No one should feel unseen or unheard, and art is an amazing way to make self-expression possible.
